Sunspot’s music is hyperliterate poetry and expert guitar work delivered with soaring harmonies and a pop sensibility. Think Muse meets Cheap Trick with Douglas Adams writing the lyrics. Vocalist and bassist Mike Huberty, guitarist Ben Jaeger, and drummer Wendy Lynn Staats met at the University of Wisconsin and they’ve been flying under the mainstream radar ever since. Releasing seven albums and a rock opera, they’ve toured extensively from coast to coast, Canada to SXSW. Their ridiculous lovelorn sci-fi anthem, “Scott Bakula” was played on the set of the Enterprise itself for the title character’s birthday party, and not to be pigeonholed as just a geek-rock band, their song, “Go, Pack!” was licensed to FOX Sports for the 2011 Super Bowl. Sunspot has shared the stage with bands like Death Cab for Cutie, The Flaming Lips, Maritime, Hot Hot Heat, Andrew WK, Crash Test Dummies and Sick Puppies. They’ve racked up plenty of awards during the past decade as well, including winning Rock Album of the Year four times in Madison and the Wisconsin Area Music Industry’s biggest award (an honor shared with notable Wisconsin musicians such as The Gufs, Garbage, and Bon Iver.)

But like Levar says, “don’t just take our word for it!”
